Han So‑hee & Choi Min‑sik Cast in The Intern Remake

Han So‑hee and Choi Min‑sik have officially been confirmed to star in the Korean remake of the 2015 hit film The Intern. On August 1, the Korean Film Council updated its official database to list both actors as confirmed leads in the soon-to-shoot adaptation, which has already entered pre-production and is set to begin filming next month.

Han So‑hee, represented by 9ato Entertainment, will take on the Anne Hathaway role—Jules Ostin, a charismatic CEO who built her fashion-tech startup empire in just eighteen months. Choi Min‑sik is stepping into Robert De Niro’s shoes as Ben Whittaker, the 70-something intern whose calm wisdom starts changing workplace dynamics.

The project is directed by Kim Do‑young (Kim Ji‑young, Born 1982)—an ideal fit for this cross-generational dramedy, adding emotional and comedic nuance. It aims to maintain the heartfelt essence of Nancy Meyers’ original while tailoring its narrative to contemporary Korean culture.

Released in 2015, the Hollywood version grossed over $190 million worldwide and drew 3.6 million Korean viewers—making it one of the most beloved workplace comedies in the country. The story of unlikely mentorship and intergenerational friendship resonated with fans, setting the stage for a Korean remake to introduce new layers through local sensibilities.
