Netflix Reveals Character Posters and New Trailer for The Scandal Starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook and NANA
Netflix has unveiled new character posters and a teaser trailer for its upcoming Korean series The Scandal, starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and NANA.
The newly released promotional materials introduce the three central characters and offer a first look at the dangerous game of love and desire that will unfold in Joseon. Netflix has also confirmed that the series will premiere globally on September 18, 2026.
A Dangerous Game of Love
The Scandal follows Lady Cho (Son Ye-jin), a gifted noblewoman who refuses to be confined by the restrictions placed on women in Joseon society.
She becomes involved in a dangerous wager with Cho Won (Ji Chang-wook), a wealthy aristocrat known as Joseon's greatest playboy.
Their game takes an unexpected turn when Hui-yeon (NANA), a woman who has no idea that she has become the target of their wager, becomes entangled in their plans.
The teaser trailer gives viewers a glimpse of the beginning of this wager. Lady Cho proposes the game, while Cho Won accepts the challenge and approaches Hui-yeon in an attempt to secure his victory.
As Lady Cho watches from the shadows, the situation begins to develop into something far more complicated than either of them anticipated.

The newly released teaser posters place each of the three protagonists in a setting that reflects their personalities and roles in the story.

Based on Les Liaisons dangereuses
Rather than being a direct remake of the 2003 Korean film Untold Scandal, The Scandal offers a new interpretation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' 1782 novel Les Liaisons dangereuses, relocating the story to Joseon.
The 2003 film, directed by E J-yong and starring Lee Mi-sook, Jeon Do-yeon, and Bae Yong-joon, was itself an adaptation of the same French literary work.
The Netflix series is directed by Jung Ji-woo, who previously helmed films including Eungyo and Happy End. The director has approached the story with a modern perspective, focusing on characters who struggle with their own desires and identities while living under the strict social rules of Joseon.
Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook and NANA
The Scandal brings together three major Korean stars in its central roles.
Son Ye-jin plays Lady Cho, a noblewoman whose intelligence and ambition push against the limitations of Joseon society.
