‘The Perfect Lie’ Unveils First Teaser: “You’re the One Who Lied”
“If you did something wrong, you have to pay the price.”
MBC has unveiled the first teaser for The Perfect Lie, its upcoming psychological thriller starring Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok.
The teaser immediately sets up the central mystery of the drama: two people who appear to have experienced the same event, yet remember it in completely different ways.
As accusations begin to surface, one question becomes increasingly difficult to answer — who is actually telling the truth?
Two Versions of the Same Story
Seo Hyun Jin stars as Kang Ji Seon, a modern dance teacher at an arts middle school who grew up believing that understanding other people's lies is more important than simply trusting their words.
Yoo Yeon Seok plays Min Jun Ho, a cardiac surgeon and single father who has been raising his teenage son alone since the death of his wife.
The two meet under seemingly ordinary circumstances and gradually become close. However, after their relationship takes an unexpected turn, their memories of what happened begin to contradict each other.
Both are convinced that their own version is the truth.
And that is where The Perfect Lie begins to unravel.
“Please Stop Telling That Ridiculous Lie”
The first teaser wastes little time establishing the psychological tension between the two leads.
Among the lines heard in the teaser are:
“If that really happened, what would it matter? It doesn't make sense.”
“I'm telling you, it's not a lie.”
“Please stop telling that ridiculous lie.”
As the confrontation intensifies, the accusations become more direct:
“If you did something wrong, you have to pay the price.”
And then comes the accusation that could define the entire mystery:
“Between the two of us, you're the one who lied.”
The teaser leaves the truth deliberately unclear, suggesting that viewers will have to question both characters' memories as the story unfolds.

The first teaser introduces the tense atmosphere of The Perfect Lie, shifting between moments of intimacy and increasingly disturbing confrontations between Ji Seon and Jun Ho.
Their seemingly ordinary relationship quickly becomes a psychological battle over memory, truth, and deception.
Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok Reunite
The Perfect Lie also marks another collaboration between Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok, who previously worked together in the first season of Dr. Romantic.
The new series is directed by Jo Young Min, known for dramas including Do You Like Brahms?, The Interest of Love, and You and Everything Else, while the screenplay comes from Baek Jae Young.
The project is produced by Cinema Zip, marking the company's first television drama production after working on acclaimed films.
When Does ‘The Perfect Lie’ Premiere?
The Perfect Lie is scheduled to premiere on MBC in October 2026.
Current listings indicate a 12-episode psychological thriller, with Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok leading the cast.
As the two leads present completely different versions of the same memory, the drama will ask viewers to decide which story they believe — and whether either of them is telling the whole truth.
