Park Ji Hoon Reportedly Offered Lead in New Drama ‘Holding on to the End of This Night’

Park Ji Hoon may have found his next acting project, but his casting has not been confirmed yet.

MyDaily reported on September 13 that the actor had been chosen to star in the upcoming drama ‘Holding on to the End of This Night’, which follows two people from completely different worlds — a low-level drug dealer and a sanitation worker — whose unexpected encounter leads them to become a source of salvation for one another.

However, shortly after the report was published, YY Entertainment clarified that Park Ji Hoon has only received an offer and has not yet confirmed his participation. The agency added that he has not even read the script at this stage.

Park Ji Hoon Was Reportedly Offered the Role of Choi Woo Sung

According to the initial report, Park Ji Hoon was being considered for the role of Choi Woo Sung, a sanitation worker who once dreamed of becoming a pianist.

Woo Sung attended an arts middle school and arts high school with hopes of pursuing music, but eventually chose a career as a sanitation worker in order to make a living.

Despite leaving his musical ambitions behind, he secretly continues to play the piano whenever he gets the chance.

He occasionally takes refuge in an abandoned jazz café and plays the piano there, keeping his lingering regrets and unfulfilled dreams hidden from the world.

That secret is eventually discovered by a woman who unexpectedly enters his life.

A Story About Two People From Opposite Worlds

‘Holding on to the End of This Night’ centers on a low-level drug dealer and a sanitation worker who live radically different lives under the night sky.

Their seemingly insignificant encounter sets off an uncontrollable chain of events as the two gradually become connected and eventually help save one another.

The drama is described as a story about two people who become a light for each other amid difficult circumstances, with their contrasting lives colliding like cold and warm air creating a powerful vortex.

The project is being developed by Studio Flow, with Mo Wan Il attached to direct and Choi Joo Yong writing the screenplay. Mo Wan Il previously directed acclaimed dramas including Misty, The World of the Married, and The Frog.

Park Ji Hoon’s Next Project Remains Undecided

The initial casting report came as anticipation surrounding Park Ji Hoon's next project continues to grow.

The actor recently achieved major success with the film ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’, which reportedly surpassed 16.9 million moviegoers, while his tvN drama ‘The Legendary Canteen Soldier’ also reached a peak rating of 7.9 percent, according to MyDaily.

However, his agency's latest statement makes clear that ‘Holding on to the End of This Night’ is currently only one of several projects being offered to him.

YY Entertainment explained that Park Ji Hoon has been receiving numerous drama and film offers and will review the scripts after completing his current schedule. The actor is also wrapping up his Asia tour, with an encore concert in Seoul taking place on September 12 and 13.

For now, fans will have to wait for Park Ji Hoon's final decision before his next acting project is officially announced.
