Disney+ Says 'Perfect Crown' Is Shaping Its Global K-Drama Strategy

Disney+ has highlighted Perfect Crown as a major success story, calling it the platform's biggest Korean series to date and a key example of how K-dramas can resonate with audiences worldwide.

'Perfect Crown' Becomes Disney+'s Biggest Korean Series

Disney+ is putting Perfect Crown at the center of its streaming strategy after the romantic comedy became the platform's largest Korean series premiere ever.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Direct-to-Consumer for Asia-Pacific, Tony Zameczkowski, described the drama as proof that Korean content can successfully reach audiences around the world.

According to Disney, Perfect Crown has accumulated more than 43 million watch hours across Disney+ and Hulu, making it the service's most-watched Korean title to date.

A Key Part of Disney's Growing Investment in K-Dramas

Speaking about Disney's strategy in Asia, Zameczkowski emphasized that Korean originals have become an essential part of the company's global content lineup.

Using Perfect Crown as an example, he explained that the series demonstrates how Korean productions can travel well beyond their home market and attract viewers internationally.

"Perfect Crown is a romantic comedy and a big hit. It's a good demonstration of how Korean content on Disney+ can travel."

The executive added that the drama's performance reinforces Disney's commitment to investing in more Korean original productions alongside its global franchises.

Disney Continues Expanding Its Korean Content

Following the success of Perfect Crown, Disney says it plans to continue increasing its investment in local productions as part of its long-term growth strategy across the Asia-Pacific region.

The company recently became the second-largest investor in original content in Asia-Pacific, trailing only Netflix, as it continues expanding its Korean and Japanese content slate.

For Disney+, the breakout success of Perfect Crown represents more than just a hit series—it has become a showcase for the global appeal of Korean storytelling and a cornerstone of the platform's future K-drama strategy.
