Sung Hoon Reportedly Cast as the Lead of New Romance Drama 'Boss's Explicit Taste'

The actor is reportedly in talks to return to the romance genre for the first time in three years with the upcoming web novel adaptation Boss's Explicit Taste.

Sung Hoon Eyes a New Romance Drama

Actor Sung Hoon is reportedly set to make his return to romance dramas with Boss's Explicit Taste, a new series based on the popular Naver web novel and webtoon of the same name.

According to industry reports on July 2, Sung Hoon is currently in talks to star in the project, which is aiming to begin production this year.

A Romance Between a Chaebol CEO and an Indie Singer

Boss's Explicit Taste tells the story of Kwon Do Hyuk, the seemingly perfect heir to a wealthy conglomerate who has everything—wealth, intelligence, and success.

While searching for the mysterious woman featured on an indie music album, he crosses paths with Lee Eun Chae, the vocalist of an indie band. Their unexpected encounter gradually develops into a romance as their lives become increasingly intertwined.

Sung Hoon has reportedly been offered the role of Kwon Do Hyuk, an AI expert who relies entirely on logic and data, lacking trust, empathy, and emotional connection with others.

If he accepts the offer, Boss's Explicit Taste will mark Sung Hoon's first leading romance drama since Perfect Marriage Revenge in 2023.

Although the actor has appeared in projects such as Death's Game, iShopping, and the short-form drama Be Careful! I'm the Lady Boss, this would be his first full-scale romantic lead in several years.

Sung Hoon first rose to prominence through romance dramas including New Tales of Gisaeng, Oh My Venus, My Secret Romance, and Level Up, becoming known for portraying charismatic leading men.

About the Production

The drama will be directed by Kang Sol, whose previous works include Delivery Man and The Good Man's Guide to Traveling, with the screenplay written by Nam Ji Yeon, known for Bitter Sweet Hell.

Broadcast details have not yet been announced, and production is currently being prepared with the goal of premiering the series in the future.

While casting discussions are still ongoing, fans are already looking forward to the possibility of seeing Sung Hoon return to the romance genre that helped establish his career.
