Lee Min Ho Reportedly Cast as Lead of New Romantic Comedy 'Virtual Love'

Lee Min Ho is reportedly preparing for his return to the small screen with Virtual Love, a new romantic comedy centered around the world of virtual idols and office romance.

Lee Min Ho Eyes His Next Drama

Actor Lee Min Ho is reportedly in the final stages of joining the upcoming drama Virtual Love (working title).

According to Korean media reports released on July 2, the actor has received an offer to play the series' lead role and is currently coordinating the final details of his appearance. If confirmed, the drama would mark his first television project since When the Stars Gossip, which concluded in early 2025.

A Romantic Comedy Set in the World of Virtual Idols

Virtual Love is being developed as a 12-episode romantic comedy.

The story follows an ordinary office employee who discovers that their cold and demanding boss is secretly a member of a popular virtual idol group—leading to an unexpected double life filled with romance, comedy, and workplace chaos.

Lee Min Ho has reportedly been offered the role of Cha Wook Hyun, the head director of a gaming company.

Although he appears to be the perfect executive on the outside, Cha Wook Hyun is known inside the company as a strict and emotionally distant boss. After an unexpected turn of events, he debuts as a virtual idol, forcing him to balance two completely different identities.

Another Busy Year for Lee Min Ho

The reported casting comes as Lee Min Ho continues to expand his lineup of upcoming projects.

The actor is also set to appear in the upcoming film The Assassins, scheduled for release this September. The historical thriller follows the investigation surrounding the attempted assassination of South Korea's First Lady in 1974, with Lee Min Ho portraying a rookie journalist alongside Yoo Hae Jin and Park Hae Il.

Production Underway

Virtual Love will reportedly be directed by Jang Young Seok, who previously helmed Try: We Become Miracles.

Casting for the supporting roles is currently underway, with production aiming to begin filming before the end of the year.

Neither Lee Min Ho nor the production team has officially confirmed his casting, but if finalized, Virtual Love would mark the actor's return to the romantic comedy genre with one of the most unique concepts currently in development.
