IU Donates Another ₩10 Million to Yangpyeong, Continuing Years of Community Support

IU has once again demonstrated her commitment to giving back by donating ₩10 million to support low-income residents in Yangpyeong, continuing a charitable relationship with the community that began in 2020.
IU Makes Another Donation to Yangpyeong
On July 3, Yangpyeong County announced that singer and actress IU donated ₩10 million to help low-income and vulnerable residents in the region.
The donation was made through the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea and will be used to support local welfare programs for families and individuals in need.
A Tradition of Giving Since 2020
This is far from IU's first contribution to Yangpyeong.
Since 2020, she has consistently supported the county through donations for COVID-19 relief, emergency living expenses, single-parent and grandparent-led households, as well as winter heating assistance for vulnerable families.
Including this latest contribution, IU has donated a cumulative ₩165 million to Yangpyeong over the past six years, making her one of the community's most consistent celebrity supporters.
More Than ₩400 Million Donated in 2026 Alone
The latest donation adds to an already remarkable year of philanthropy for IU.
Earlier in 2026, she made major charitable contributions to mark Children's Day and her birthday, supporting children, elderly people living alone, people with disabilities, and families facing financial hardship.
With her donations throughout the year, IU's charitable giving in 2026 has now exceeded ₩410 million, further cementing her reputation as one of South Korea's most generous entertainers.
Continuing Her Positive Influence
Yangpyeong officials thanked IU for her unwavering support over the years, noting that her donations have consistently reached residents who need them most.
Rather than making one-time contributions, IU has built a long-term relationship with the community, quietly continuing her support year after year.
As both an actress and singer, IU continues to earn praise not only for her work on screen and stage, but also for the lasting positive impact she creates through her ongoing charitable efforts.
