Go Youn Jung Confirmed to Star Opposite Lee Byung Hun in Historical Action Film Nambeol

Go Youn Jung has officially joined the cast of the upcoming historical action film Nambeol, where she will star alongside Lee Byung Hun in what marks their first-ever on-screen collaboration. The casting was confirmed by production company Hive Media Corp on July 7.

Set during the early Joseon Dynasty, Nambeol follows nine warriors from different social classes and backgrounds as they embark on a dangerous mission to Tsushima Island to rescue captives kidnapped by Japanese pirates. The film is directed by acclaimed cinematographer Im Mo Gae, making his feature directorial debut.

Go Youn Jung will play Ae Ryeong, a determined woman who enters the battlefield after losing her family in a pirate attack, risking everything to save her younger sibling. Meanwhile, Lee Byung Hun stars as Im Eok, the leader of the group of warriors leading the rescue mission.

The announcement adds another major project to Go Youn Jung's rapidly growing filmography, as she continues to transition between hit dramas and high-profile films. Nambeol is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of 2026.
