Kwak Dong Yeon to Enlist in the Military on August 25

Actor Kwak Dong Yeon will reportedly begin his mandatory military service on August 25, serving as an active-duty soldier. According to Korean media reports, the 29-year-old actor recently received his enlistment notice and is preparing to temporarily step away from the entertainment industry to fulfill his national service.

Final Activities Before Enlistment

Before entering the military, Kwak Dong Yeon is expected to participate in the 10th anniversary special variety program celebrating Love in the Moonlight, which will be filmed in early August. The special will effectively serve as his final official schedule before enlistment.

His latest acting project is Netflix's The East Palace, which premiered on July 17. In the series, Kwak portrays the Crown Prince, a role that was kept secret before the drama's release and has since drawn praise from viewers for its impact despite being a closely guarded character.

Returning in 2028

Because of his military service, Kwak Dong Yeon will not be able to return for Season 2 of tvN's Park Bo Gum's Magic Salon, where he has been replaced in the cast. If he completes his service as scheduled, the actor is expected to be discharged in February 2028, after which fans can look forward to his return to the screen.
