Kim Sejeong, Bae Hyun Sung, and Jo Han Gyul Confirmed for New Action Romance "High School Queen"

Kim Sejeong, Bae Hyun Sung, and Jo Han Gyul have officially been confirmed to star in the upcoming TVING original drama High School Queen (working title), based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name.

Scheduled to premiere in 2027, High School Queen is an action-fantasy romance that follows Kim Cheong Ha, the greatest warrior and queen of the Joseon Dynasty. After dying in the past, she awakens 400 years later in the body of Kim Da Jin, a high school student who has become the victim of severe school bullying. Armed with the dignity of a queen and the combat skills of a legendary swordswoman, she begins delivering justice while pursuing the dreams and love she couldn't fulfill in her previous life.

Kim Sejeong takes on the dual role of Kim Cheong Ha and Kim Da Jin, describing the character as one that combines many of the different sides she has portrayed throughout her career. The actress shared that she is preparing extensively for both the emotional and action-heavy aspects of the role.

The drama will also star Bae Hyun Sung and Jo Han Gyul, who will portray key characters connected to Kim Cheong Ha across the story's past and present timelines. Their casting is expected to bring fresh chemistry to the fantasy romance.

The series will be directed by Yoon Sung Sik, known for hit dramas including Mr. Queen, The Haunted Palace, and Bridal Mask. Produced by Studio Dragon, the project also aims to expand the webtoon's universe through additional global IP content beyond the drama itself.

High School Queen is scheduled to premiere exclusively on TVING in 2027.
