Nam Ji-hyun Confirmed as Female Lead Opposite Hwang In-youp in New Office Romance Drama
Nam Ji-hyun and Hwang In-youp are set to lead the upcoming office romance drama Jjinhan Gobaek: 183Hz (찐한 고백: 183hz), bringing the two actors together for a new workplace romance based on a popular web novel.
According to a report from Xportsnews, Nam Ji-hyun has been cast as Go Eun-young, the female lead of the upcoming drama. Hwang In-youp was previously reported to star as the male lead, Baek Sun-ho.
Nam Ji-hyun and Hwang In-youp to Lead New Romance Drama
Jjinhan Gobaek: 183Hz is based on a web novel that was originally serialized between June and December 2020 and later received a webtoon adaptation. The story centers on an office romance that begins when a former intimidating senior employee returns after undergoing a dramatic change.
Nam Ji-hyun will portray Go Eun-young, while Hwang In-youp will take on the role of Baek Sun-ho.
The story follows Eun-young, who once worked under Baek Sun-ho when she was a new employee and was intimidated by his harsh reputation. When the two meet again, however, Sun-ho has changed significantly, setting the stage for an unexpected romance between the former junior employee and her once-feared superior.
The original web novel describes Eun-young as someone who is unfamiliar with office romance but straightforward and determined, while Baek Sun-ho returns as a team leader who is very different from the intimidating senior she remembers.
A Web Novel and Webtoon Adaptation
Jjinhan Gobaek originated as a popular web novel and was later adapted into a webtoon.
The official Naver Webtoon synopsis describes the premise as the return of the "tiger-like" former superior who once terrified the protagonist during her early days as an employee. However, the relationship changes when the two meet again as team leaders, leading to a workplace romance filled with push-and-pull tension.
The web novel is also completed on Naver Series, where it has accumulated a strong readership and a high rating.
Hwang In-youp's Next Romance Role
For Hwang In-youp, the drama will mark another leading role following his recent projects.
The actor previously appeared in Dream to You and has continued expanding his filmography with projects across television and streaming platforms. His casting in Jjinhan Gobaek was first reported in May, when SPOTV News revealed that he had been selected to play Baek Sun-ho.
The upcoming series will give him the opportunity to take on another romance-focused character, this time as a former intimidating senior who returns with a completely different personality.
Nam Ji-hyun's Next Project
Nam Ji-hyun has built a diverse filmography since beginning her career as a child actress in 2004, appearing in dramas including Queen Seondeok, Shopping King Louie, Suspicious Partner, 100 Days My Prince, 365: Repeat the Year, Little Women and Good Partner.
Her casting in Jjinhan Gobaek comes after her recent work in Love Scout and her upcoming projects, giving fans another opportunity to see her in a new romantic role.
The project also follows reports that she will not be returning for the second season of Good Partner, making Jjinhan Gobaek one of her next major drama projects.
