Lee Young-ae is a veteran South Korean actress born on January 31, 1971. She is one of the most respected and well-known actresses in Korea and has had a long and successful career in both film and television. She is often referred to as "the Oxygen Lady" due to her clear and elegant image. She gained international fame for her lead role in the hugely popular historical drama "Jewel in the Palace" (2003), which was a major part of the Korean Wave and was broadcast in numerous countries. She also received critical acclaim for her powerful performance in Park Chan-wook's crime thriller film "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (2005). After a hiatus to focus on her family, she returned to acting with the drama "Saimdang, Memoir of Colors" (2017) and later starred in the series "Inspector Koo" (2021) and "Maestra: Strings of Truth" (2023). She has a number of upcoming projects planned, including reprising her role as Dae Jang Geum in a new historical drama.
