Biography
Jung Ae-ri is a veteran South Korean actress who started her career in 1978 after being selected in a KBS talent audition and then rose to major fame in 1984 with the drama Love and Truth, winning top awards like the Daesang at the MBC Drama Awards and Best TV Actress at Baeksang Arts Awards. She temporarily retired after marrying in 1985 and moved to the US, but returned to Korea in 1988 and resumed acting with many successful TV dramas, films and theatre works. She is also praised for her stage roles, especially in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1997 and The Most Beautiful Goodbye in the World in 2010, which reinforced her reputation for powerful dramatic presence. Apart from her acting she has been active in charity, especially supporting orphanages since the late 1980s. After divorcing her first husband in 2005 she married Ji Seung-ryong in 2011. She continues to be a respected figure in Korean entertainment with a long career and many memorable roles.
