Biography

Lee Jin Ki, known professionally as Onew, is a South Korean singer, dancer and member of SHINEE (샤이니, stylized as SHINee). He graduated from Gwangmyeong Information Industry High School and later obtained a bachelor's and a master's degree, both in Applied Music and from Cheongwoon University. Before debuting, he was a trainee at SM Academy Casting for 2 years. He made his debut in May 2008 as the group's leader and main vocalist with their first EP, "Replay". They immediately gained attention for starting a fashion trend amongst students, which the media dubbed the "Shinee Trend". In 2008, they won the Newcomer Album of the Year Award at the 23rd Golden Disc Awards for "The Shinee World".
