Joon Park, known also by his Korean name Park Joon Hyung, is an American singer, actor, and member of g.o.d (지오디). He was born in South Korea but his family moved to Los Angeles and was raised there. He graduated from California State University Long Beach with a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. He is the cousin of fellow groupmate Danny Ahn. He moved back to South Korea in 1997 to pursue a career as a singer. He joined KH iHQ (KH아이에이치큐) and began recruiting new members for a group that would mix Korean music with a twist of Western culture. They faced many challenges even before debuting as the International Monetary Fund collapse brought a severe economic crisis to South Korea and the agency struggled financially, having to cut funding to many trainees. Park Jin Young was brought in to become their producer and mentor, and originally, the group's name was set to be GOT6 before a trainee decided to quit before debuting.
